83 year-old Dolphy is Dead; Philippines mourns
Dolphy gave us decades of humor and heart warming entertainment but sadly to say the Philippines' King of Comedy has passed away on Tuesday, July 10! He was 83-years-old.
The Quizon family released a statement that the veteran actor died around 8:34 pm at Makati Medical Center after his long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Dolphy (real name: Rodolfo Vera Quizon, Sr.) is best known as John Purungtong in the sitcom “John en Marsha” opposite Nida Blanca. He also gave us the family-oriented show "Home Along Da Riles".
Dolphy never hesitated to do gay roles and in films like “Facifica Falayfay” and “Markova: Comfort Gay.”
Pres. Noynoy Aquino awarded Dolphy the recognition of the Grand Collar of the Order of the Golden Heart back in 2010.
Dolphy continues to produce films through his film outfit, RVQ Productions.
Dolphy ....RIP.
